Vor ein paar Wochen (Ende Februar) habe ich mit Toast Titanium 8 eine DVD-RW beschrieben und erfolgreich mi t dem DiskCatalogMaker erfasst. Miitlerwile habe ich auf OSX 10.4.9 aktualisiert und woolte heute was von der DVD holen. Aber ich erhalte immer die Meldung, dass die DVD leer ist. Der Brenner (LG GSA-4163B) hängt am FireWire, ist also extern, die DVD-R's, die ich damit gebrannt habe, werden auch erkannt. Ein Update auf Toast 8.0.1 und ein Profil mit PatchBurn haben auch nix gebracht. Die DVD-RW wurde aber definitiv gebrannt (man sieht die Brenn-Spur) und konnte auch mal gelesen werden.
Hat jemand dazu eine Idee? Liegt das am 10.4.9?

I'm presuming the OP burned the disc with Toast and then used DisckCatalogMaker to create a catalog file of its contents. I'm not sure what DiskCatalogMaker has to do with any of this. Is the DiskCatalogMaker database file empty? When the DVD is inserted does it mount on the desktop? Does opening it in the Finder show zero items? Has he tried inserting the disc in both his internal and his Firewire drive? If he chooses Disc Info from the Toast Recorder menu does Toast describe any content on the disc?

Sometimes odd OS problems occur after doing an incremental system update (such as from 10.4.8 to 10.4.9. The fix for that is to download and apply Apple's Combined System Updater. Suggest that to him.

Macs (and Toast) don't do the packet writing that allows CD or DVD to be used as a big floppy drive. They can write sessions to CD-R/RW but DVD media can only have one session. To change content on a DVD-RW disc it must be erased and then rewritten. It sounds like the disc was erased or at least the TOC cannot be read by the Mac.

Er ist nicht sicher was DiskCatalogMaker mag mit diesen Problem zu tun.

Ich wundere mich auch, wenn diese etwas mit RW Media zu tun hat. R Media ist "gebrannt" als ein Farbstoffe mit dem Laser gekocht ist. RW Media ist "gebrannt" als ein Aluminimiumlegierung (Aluminum Alloy) verschmeltzt und re-crystilizert ist. Die RW (CD-RW oder DVD/RW) dann beginnt zu de-crystiliziern - und nimmt die Datei mit. Gewoehnlich ist eine RW gut fuer eine Paar Monaten, aber es mag Tagen oder Wochen oder Jahren gut. Die Zeit andert von Disc zu Disc.
